Event Review: PUNCH4NFDI Annual Meeting
PUNCH4NFDI Annual Meeting 2024 in Bonn

The Annual Meeting is the one time per year when the consortium – across all Task Areas – meets in person. Getting to know the colleagues – with whom you are usually working only via Zoom – is an important factor for successful collaboration.
This year, the Annual Meeting of the PUNCH4NFDI Consortium took place from 27 to 29 November at the “Universitätsclub” in Bonn. The focus of the meeting was on the preparation of the renewal proposal for PUNCH4NFDI, which has to be handed in to the DFG in August 2025, and on the consortium on its way towards a second funding period.
This topic was discussed in different sessions: parallel sessions on Wednesday afternoon and an ensuing internal plenary session, in the outlook session on Friday morning and the meeting of the Consortium Board. Furthermore, representatives of the four committees of our communities (KAT [astroparticle physics], KET [particle physics], KHuK [hadron and nuclear physics], RDS [astronomy and astrophysics]) and members of the communities presented their views, wishes and requirements on a future cooperation with PUNCH4NFDI at the Community and User Meeting on Thursday. Furthermore, together with colleagues from other NFDI consortia and Base4NFDI, we explored the potential for future (continued) cooperation and collaboration. We thank everyone who followed our invitation.
We are now in the post-processing of the meeting. Some tangible outcomes, ideas and to-do items have been collected during the internal sessions, which will be followed up in the near future. For the preparation of the renewal proposal, further ideas have to be discussed first internally, but subsequently also with external partners. Especially the connection to (upcoming) ErUM-Data projects, to European and international initiatives, and the integration of basic services from Base4NFDI are challenging issues.
Details on the agenda and presentation slides are available on the indico page of the event [1].
