PUNCH4NFDI funding continues

Positive decision on second funding period as well as future NFDI funding

On 10 July, the Joint Science Conference (Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz, GWK) decided to continue the funding for all ten NFDI consortia of the second roun – with PUNCH4NFDI among them [1].

With the continued funding, PUNCH4NFDI can open a new chapter of FAIRification of PUNCH sciences – with a focus on enhancing service interoperability and user-friendliness. This will happen in parallel to the development and implementation of a number of high-impact scientific use cases.

In addition, the GWK adopted a new federal-state agreement (Bund-Länder-Vereinbarung, BLV) for the continuation of the NFDI [2]. This agreement defines the funding and future structure of NFDI from 1 January 2029 to 31 December 2038. It sets the boundary conditions of the future “One NFDI”.
