Service Class 5: Computing and storage resource services

For efficient data management and analysis, IT resources as provided by  Compute4PUNCH are needed. Therefore, interfaces to existing infrastructures are  provided, for example, to the supercomputer HLRN. Additionally, small fractions of  community-specific resources jointly managed by the COBalD/TARDIS compute resource  management software framework will be made available to PUNCH4NFDI and beyond for  data analysis. Finally, prototyping interactive analysis via multi-cloud resources will be  facilitated for interested users.

5.1 Interfaces to PUNCH Computing Resources (D-TA6-WP5-4)

via the Marketplace of Task Area 6 infrastructures and services for community - specific applications such as the supercomputer "HLRN - High Performance Computing in northern Germany" or the GoeGrid grid cluster for education purposes are being offered. In particular the GoeGrid centres can be used as "open analysis resources" for CERN open data by users without explicit CERN or experiment affiliation.

5.2 Dynamically managed COBalD/TARDIS Compute4PUNCH resources (D-TA6-WP5-5)

Small fractions of potentially decentralised community-specific Compute4PUNCH resources jointly managed by the COBalD/TARDIS compute resource management software framework will be made available to PUNCH4NFDI and beyond for data analysis and testing purposes. This includes explicitely also third-party users including the general public. Again access to the CERN open data platform will be provided.

5.3 JupyterHub managed multi-cloud resources for interactive analysis (D-TA6-WP5-6/7)

For prototyping interactive analysis to interested users from the PUNCH community and beyond multicloud resources will be provided as compute and storage testbed. The JupyterHub platform developed in TA 2 will be provided for interactive data analysis and visualisation. The JupyterHub  platform will allow to run Jupyter sessions in the cloud while integrating standard analysis software and data access via use case specific notebook images.
