A step forward for the Science Data Portal (SDP) of PUNCH4NFDI

A Hackathon at University Bonn, organised by Task Areas 4 and 2 of PUNCH4NFDI made some important progress for the SDP. Ten co-workers from AIP, Bonn University, DESY, and KIT spent two days focused on bridging the remaining gaps between Compute4PUNCH/Storage4PUNCH and the REANA workflow engine. These services were usable by themselves, but including both into the same workflow needed more work. It is possible now to run elaborate workflows via REANA and use the distributed compute and storage resources (C4P and S4P) within PUNCH4NFDI. This allows co-locating data and compute resources, executing analyses and retrieving the results for further access in a different location. These REANA workflows are reproducible and reusable. With this, much of the basis for the Science Data Portal of PUNCH4NFDI has been achieved. It is enabling users to create FAIR data by FAIR analyses while transparently navigating various boundaries of resource providers. All the now integrated services run on PUNCH4NFDI provided resources and require the use of the PUNCH-AAI, which will be made available to users in the near future.
